Which MacBook Pro?

Hey Guys. I am currently starting to do Forex trading but the moment I wanted to start my old laptop broke. Now I am planning on buying the 2020 MacBook Pro. Thing is, I just dont get why I should pay extra vor the i5 10th gen chip, since I‘m gonna use the laptop only for trading (meaning I‘ll have around 2-3 tabs open at the same time) or for listening to music or watch netflix. I am no programmer, editor or designer so I wont use anything like Final Cut Pro. It just has to be my every day task laptop / side hustle laptop. I do got the money to buy the i5 10th gen model with 16gb ram and 512 gb ssd. I just dont know If i should save that money or is there really some significant difference between the gen 8 and gen 10 processor? Does anyone of you have the base model MBP 2020? What would you recommend for my situation (reminder I‘ll use it for everyday tasks / working on side hustle with 2-3 tabs open at the same time)
Thank you Guys for your advice!

Which MacBook?

Hey Guys Short question: I am planning on buying a new Laptop, actually I have decided already to buy the MacBook Pro 2020 Model. I am just not sure about which one I should buy. Since I am not a Programmer or Content Creator, which means I wont use any editing Programs like Final Cut Pro etc. I am only using this laptop for everyday tasks and my side hustle (forex trading) which would require to have 2-3 Tabs open at the same time, which should not be a huge problem. I just can‘t decide if I should go with the base model i5 8th gen quad core with 16gb ram and 256gb ssd and save some money or should I upgrade to the i5 10th gen model with 16gb ram and 512gb ssd. I am using the apple watch and an Iphone so i would definitely benefit from the ecosystem. What do you guys recommend?
Big thanks!

Trading Gear

Hello Forex Friends,

First off i am not here to steal your trading strategies, so lets not stir that pot because i can see how sensitive that topic is here. I am actually interested on what kind of gear you guys like to trade with ( Laptop, Monitors, Computers, Tablets, etc ). This is something that turns me off to my current trading style.

My current strategy requires for me to use a Microsoft laptop or PC because i need MT4 and my broker is OANDA, which does not let me load MT4 onto my Macbook Pro - if you've successfully done this please let me know how. My Hp laptop is tiny and pretty dated ( 2010 ), i wish i can use a larger screen but i am usually travelling. MT4 on a laptop is kind of annoying, especially when im drawing my Resistance and Support lines on a 4H chart and when i switch to my 1D chart, the lines from the 4H are there and this just confuses the shit out of me but i am aware i can change the settings of the lines to display on different times. Maybe its time to look for a different broker?..

Lately, i've been thinking about a Tablet that can get mirrored to a Monitor via a hdmi tx&rx or even appleplay. It would be even easiecooler imo if i could draw and erase lines on a touch screen tablet or something using a stylist and just go nuts but still be able to erase things easily.

I guess im just looking for tips on how you guys maintain your charts clean and organized, I use tradingview sometimes but i just dont see why i need to have trading view charts open AND MT4 Charts open.

Thanks all,
Happy Trading!

Do any of you foresee a crypto being widely adopted as a general purpose payment coin? nano, btc, btccash etc (take your pick). I think it won't happen for reasons in this post. What do you think?

What do you all think of payment coins in general? I've got a list of points why this wont happen, i mentioned them in the thread on this sub, asking if btc deserves its market cap. Figured it might deserve its own post.
I think a payment coin (btc, nano, btccash, etc) being widely adopted as an alternative to fiat payment wont happen for the following reasons:
ive mentioned monero. (not trying to shill here, insert other private payment coin here) it has the flaws of point 1 which is huge, so wont be adopted widely for general payment. however its fungible, people cant look up how much you own. transactions are anonymous. so even with the problem with point 1. privacy even at a cost has value and good use cases. hiding money from the govt, transferring it overseas. nefarious activities, e.g. buying drugs online. but those are niche use cases. so i dont ever see monero or another private coin being adopted for general payment either.
if a payment coin can some how exist in the future where it resolves the points i mentioned e.g. holding its value to fiat, then id be interested. however maintaining the value of a crypto relative to fiat would require financial instruments like hedging which would increase the cost of using the crypto for payment thus potentially making it moot for general payment for any cost advantage. the charge back problem could be solved by say a company providing an equivalent type of crypto credit card without credit (or with credit), but this would incur cost of using the crypto, banks make this money back with interest, which is very high, credit cards its 25% or so in Australia.
So given all these points, and the above paragraph where i see the only feasible way a general payment coin can exist (which would render using crypto in the first place pointless). do you agree? or think that its possible for the wide adoption of a crypto for general payment?
edit, i realise that there is more to crypto then payment which many cite without addressing my points, i find payment coins the least promising out of them. dApps and remittance focused coins for sure. other platform based ones like oyster too, perhaps icon and ark but i need to get a better understanding of them. right now i own xrp, xlm, xmr, ada, eth, prl, iota (possibly payment yes, but has data storage on the tangle thus is useful in other protocols as its ideal for static data storage and retrieval e..g video streaming, oyster pearl is using the tangle for just this reason), neo and ont.

Convince me not to get a chromebook

So basically I am going to be getting a new computer in the next month or so. I am coming from a 2011ish macbook pro that I loved for years. But of recently I am moving away from apple as they have lost their edge imo and recently just switched to a new galaxy s10.
The list of activities I mainly do on the computer: -write documents -view and write emails -apply to jobs -surf the internet with multiple tabs open(3-5 at a time) -watch YouTube -stream boxing, ufc, football etc -fantasy sports drafting thru ESPN -manage and trade stocks, forex, crypto
Other than that, I am not a gamer any more so I will not really be using this for games. I am not a coder or developer.
I would like someone to tell me if chromebooks can fit my needs and maybe convince me why getting a windows 10 laptop is better?
My budget is 300-600 and what do you guys suggest I look into?
Are there new chromebooks being released in the coming months that I should wait for?
Is Chrome OS dying and I should stay away?
Thank you for your help

Advice on first build appreciated, upgrading from Console and Mac

Build Help/Ready:

Have you read the sidebar and rules? (Please do)
What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.
Been using a MacBook Pro for a few years now and have decided to upgrade. This build is going to be used for gaming, general uni work as well as Forex and Stock trading.
If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, framerate, game settings)
Looking for solid performance on max setting in games such as Rainbow Six, Battlefield 1, PUBG, GTA V. Minimum 1440p. I intend on using an Ultrawide and perhaps adding on more monitors in a few years potentially (only for trading though, will only game on one monitor)
What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?
4-5k AUD (PC and Peripherals). I am aiming to build a good pc that will last many years without too much upgrading.
In what country are you purchasing your parts?
Post a draft of your potential build here (specific parts please). Consider formatting your parts list. Don't ask to be spoonfed a build (read the rules!).

Provide any additional details you wish below.
Due to the current state of GPU prices I intend on using the integrated graphics until the release of new cards at which point I’ll either get a 1080ti for ‘cheaper’ hopefully or pick up the new card.
I definitely wouldn’t mind a fair bit of RGB because it adds the option of variety.
Need help deciding between the Black and White or Black variant of the h700i.
Also not certain on the mouse, was also looking at the g502, open to anything though.
Will be using the SSD for Boot Up and Documents/Apps. HDD for storing games.
Any advice or opinions on any component/peripheral in the build would be extremely helpful. Thanks
NOTE: You do not have to follow this format, but please be sure to answer these questions. Please do not ask to simply be given a build. You are welcome to delete this section.

FML, and thank you Reddit.

So here is my story. Sorry for grammar and spelling. (i'm a filipino posting this on a mobile phone)
I used to be so a guy who always smiling, always happy, always content with what I have.
But then everything starts to break apart, and it started 4 years ago. It started when my eldest brother was diagnosed with cancer. I can't believe it because I know my brother didn't deserve it cause he is a loving brother (he saves some of his money so he can buy me some gadget on my birthday, cause my parent never do that)...
My brother keep his illness to himself until my mom notice something is not right with him. My parents try to save/lend money for my brother but my brother didn't want it and keep insisting he don't need the money.(he don want my parents spend mkney for his hospital bill) .... My brother stay home without taking medicines or even supplement(he don't want it cause he knew he will die anyway). I stop working and stay home to assist my brother, reddit... I witness all my brother's pain and suffering from cancer tillihos last breath. During his last day of funeral people gave him standing ovation cause his friends told us he deserves to be praised for what he did when he was alive... My brother died at the age of 30 on my Father's birthday
After a couple of months our family thinking that everything will be ok now. Well it was... I start making money by selling stuff online or trading forex. My Parent start water refilling station, farming and raising pig as our family main source of income. My younger brother was hired by american company.
Then 6 after my Brother's death, everything start to fall again but this time it's more depressing. Our family business bankrupt, my Dad suffer from heart disease which need a new heart valve. My brother got fired by his company (the problem is he already got his own family now) *what . I see my mom always crying because of these problem...
And me I've been a victim of scam and lost everything. I also post some story on reddit before about my MacBook Pro stop working (apple said that the repair cost $1000 which is too expensive)... so I bought a cheaper laptop. I start learning rails so I can create all the flooding concepts of social and business apps inside my head.
Then my laptop got broken again... This time I got nothing(i'm totally broke), and I'm only using my phone to check email or browse the web.... But I wanted you to know...
reddit I'm still happy that I can browse you on my phone natively (iReddit). I wanted to tell you that despite of all the challenges in my life, you still manage to removed all my sadness especially when I see some funny pics or see interestig stuff related to I.T., And I successfully had my first redditgifts and I received an awesome book (to the person who receive my gift, I'm so sorry that the game I was making to include on your /books have not been finish because of my laptop)...
Redditor please keep posting new interesting stuff, and not reposting or overusing the meme... these gives me headache
